The flying season has begun! I had the opportunity to spend four days at Moose Creek in central Idaho recently, and found that good flying weather is upon us. Barry Halsted has us flying to Forks soon, and we will be doing the Flying Start program on May 18. Dave Woodcock with Cecelia Aragon will introduce our world of aviation to young adults and those that always wanted to fly.
The vision of our own clubhouse is alive and well. The building committee continues to refine the plan and determine the cost. Our membership contains an amazing group of highly skilled and capable people. If you have a skill or experience that can help us with our building project, please call me. Also, please consider donating to the permanent home for EAA430. Every dollar donated will go to the building. There are no administrative costs. Everyone is a volunteer.
I was recently selected as a state liaison for the Recreational Aviation Foundation (RAF). As the new Washington liaison, I will be attending the biannual national conference for the RAF in Bozeman, MT and will miss the board of directors meeting this month. Rick Vaux was volunteered to lead the meeting during one of the times he was out. ꨶ Congratulations to Barry Halsted for giving a great presentation to EAA 406 in Bremerton Washington about Saffire. His one-of-a-kind scratch-built airplane. With the extended daylight now, he was able to fly down and back to display his plane for the evening presentation.
The tetrahedron for Sequim Valley Airport is taking shape (pun intended). The project has been taken on by the boys from Rakes Glen Airport. Richard Humphreys has been the project lead and it should be completed soon. We will need some help transporting it to Sequim Valley airport, and it will need to be painted.
It’s time for Young Eagle season and our first rally is June 1 at Sequim Valley airport. I hope to see you there!
